Position Summary:
The Financial Analyst is a key member of the accounting staff reporting to our Manager of Accounting. This position provides financial support & analysis to the Rotron sites in Woodstock, NY and El Cajon, CA, as well as Divisional related support. The position will be responsible for all ASC 606 revenue recognition accounting requirements, which includes over-time revenue recognition for both product and NRE contracts (essentially POC accounting) in accordance with corporate policies and industry standards, as well as contract reviews. This position will also be responsible for producing financial analysis, explaining variances and anomalies by researching issues, SOX compliance items, and audit support. The Financial Analyst will directly support the Site Controller and assist in any ad-hoc analysis and projects as required.
Duties and Responsibilities:

Monthly and Quarterly perform Revenue Recognition analysis using ASC 606 over-time accounting to ensure revenues and income are accurately stated

Maintain Individual revenue and cost tracking by contract on ASC 606 over-time accounting covered items

Review contracts in the draft negotiation stage for revenue recognition implications, and provide guidance and assistance to cross-functional departments to ensure optimal revenue recognition

Draft revenue recognition policies and memos

Coordinate and Participate in SOX month-end and quarter-end analysis

Assist in the preparation of annual operating and capital budgets, and all related corporate reporting requirements

Dedication to continuously improve the automation of the accounting and reporting process

Work with business partners to ensure compliance with corporate accounting policies, procedures and controls and provide support on special requests

Responsibility includes ability to develop computer driven reports as well as the ability to analyze and interpret the resulting data.

Month-end journal entry preparation and analysis, and related balance sheet account reconciliations

Assist with monthly financial closings and required financial reporting

Assist with forecast for P&L, balance sheet, working capital & related metrics

Provide analysis on financial results (trends, performance metrics, benchmarks, margins, mix analysis, etc)

Engage in various department-wide initiatives

Assist with Division related finance activities as needed

Assist with both internal and external audit requirements

Assist with cross training in other areas of accounting department

Perform other related duties, ad hoc reporting & analysis, and special projects as required.
Education/Experience:
-
Bachelor’s degree (BA) in Accounting and/or Finance required

3+ years of Revenue Recognition and hands on Revenue Accounting Experience

CPA or CPA candidate strongly preferred, MBA or CMA a plus

Prior big 4 public accounting experience strongly preferred

Experience in a manufacturing finance environment with a working knowledge of manufacturing cost accounting is preferred
Skills/Requirements:

Strong knowledge of Microsoft office including advanced skills in Excel

Hyperion Enterprise and Oracle experience a plus

Strong knowledge of US GAAP and technical pronouncements

Understanding of ASC 606 or Long-Term Contract Accounting (POC) preferred

SOX internal control assessments (Section 404) experience
