The Director of Quality will lead the exempt and hourly Quality staff to manage all aspects of SCP quality resources, policies, functions and records as defined and required by our business, customers, and regulatory authorities.  The Director will coordinate quality activities in the support and monitoring of all manufacturing, supplier, customer and contractual requirements.  The Director of Quality will lead the exempt and hourly Quality staff to manage all aspects of SCP quality resources, policies, functions and records as defined and required by our business, customers, and regulatory authorities.  The Manager will coordinate quality activities in the support and monitoring of all manufacturing, supplier, customer and contractual requirements. 

 

Job Responsibilites:

  • Assures quality products and processes by establishing and enforcing quality standards and testing materials and products.  Maintain ISO9001 certification.  Support customer audits. 
  • Serve as the primary customer quality interface and build strong relationships while ensuring 100% conformity with high efficiency. 
  • Ensure the contract review process is conducted for all customer quality requirements for quotes, customer purchase orders and projects and ensure proper flow-down to suppliers and inspection plans in place for efficient receiving inspection. 
  • Serve as the primary Point of Contact (POC) for the on-site US Government Quality Assurance Representative (QAR). 
  • Ensure suppliers meet quality requirements and utilize root cause and corrective actions tools as needed for improvement. 
  • Implements in-process product inspection standards by studying manufacturing methods and devising testing methods and procedures.
  • Establishes standards for the disposition of finished product by devising evaluation tests, methods, and procedures.  Lead the Material Review Board process. 
  • Institutes rework standards by devising inspection and physical testing methods and procedures.
  • Creates or directs product quality documentation system by writing and updating quality assurance procedures.
  • Maintains product quality by enforcing quality assurance policies and procedures and government requirements.
  • Collaborates with other members of management to develop new product and engineering designs and manufacturing and training methods.
  • Prepares product and process quality reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.  Submit accurate and timely test reports, FAI’s, and qualification data for customer approval. 
  • Completes quality assurance operational requirements by scheduling and assigning employees and following up on work results.
  • Develops and manages the quality department staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees.  Manage staff job results by coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies.
  • Achieves financial objectives by preparing the quality assurance budget, scheduling expenditures, analyzing variances, and initiating corrective actions

 

Position Requirements:

  • BA or BS in technical discipline, ideally Mechanical Engineering
  • Experience with quality assurance measuring and testing equipment
  • Five to 10 years’ experience of progressive Quality experience to include serving as Quality Manager in a manufacturing environment with high compliance and tolerance requirements in an ISO or AS approved facility. 
  • Working knowledge of quality system requirements, ideally for US Navy contracts and specifications
  • Experience with Microsoft Office suite of products
  • Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States due to ITAR requirements for defense products
  • Candidates must be able to travel up to 10% to include occasional international travel
