ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The Network Support Specialist position is primarily responsible for supporting the Information Technology infrastructure for two manufacturing sites for AMETEK in Waukegan, IL and Knightdale, NC. 

 

  • Ensure the IT systems infrastructure and connectivity is maintained to systems hosted elsewhere.
  • Provide support for the Servers (Windows 2016 and 2012), PCs (primarily Windows 10), PC applications and Printers throughout the facilities.
  • Install Company approved software (Office 365, Cad Software, etc.).
  • Support a basic VMWare environment
  • Maintaining compliance with both IT SOX and NIST 800 requirements in conjunction with other AME IT team members.
  • Oversees the administration of the company's LAN
  • Oversees troubleshooting, systems backups, archiving, and disaster recovery
  • Provide proactive maintenance and troubleshooting for any IT issues.
  • Work with local and wide area network (TCP/IP, DNS, WINS, etc.), wireless/RF devices, Aruba.
  • Maintain open communication between service providers.
  • Work as part of a Divisional IT team to support other sites as required to cover vacation and other absences and to share appropriate expertise and insight
  • Contribute to the wider Ametek IT Infrastructure team
  • Responsible for all PC Break and Fix needs including:
    • Ensure maximum local system availability and remote connectivity.
    • Identify and diagnose software/hardware issues, provide options, recommendations and troubleshooting.
    • May require working off hours as business needs arise.
    • Maintain/enforce the IT Security Policies and procedures.
    • Ensure all other appropriate IT Policies and Procedures are enforced
    • Develop key relationships with users and develop an understanding of key business processes.
    • Perform other work-related duties and special projects as assigned
    • On occasion and prior to holidays due to business priorities, overtime may be required. At times, work hours may need to be adjusted depending on the needs of the business and backup covering for vacations etc.

Education:

Bachelor’s degree and/or combination of education and technical expertise suitable for the job responsibilities.

 

Experience:

  • 2+ years of IT experience in Windows desktop support.
  • Knowledge of Desktop applications including MS Office.
  • Basic knowledge of VMWare
  • Experience in the support of other desktop technologies including printers and scanners.
  • Ability to troubleshoot basic network issues and escalate as needed. 

 

Qualifications:

  • Strong customer service, organizational and analytical skills.
  • Ability to interface effectively with internal customers in a corporate environment.
  • Effective communication skills.

 

Physical Requirements:

Must be performed with or without reasonable accommodation.

  • Primarily sedentary to moderate work, exerting up to 10 – 30 pounds of force occasionally to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.  Regularly required to sit or stand, walk, bend and reach.
  • Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of speaking, hearing or via other effective means of communication.
  • The use of Safety Glasses is required in manufacturing areas and when working with hand tools.
  • Other PPV such as earplugs, gloves, masks, etc are available, if necessary or desired for certain job functions.
  • Work performed in an office and manufacturing environment.
  • Exposed to any number of elements but with none present to the extent of being disagreeable.
