Summary of Position

The Engineering Manager has overall responsibility to ensure department goals and objectives are met. Manages fiscal responsibility for entire department. Identifies and drives policies and procedures changes that maximize departmental operating performance. Has in-depth understanding of the overall organization and interacts with all levels of management.  Identifies technical issues of future importance. Works closely with Sales and Manufacturing to develop and introduce new products, as well as improve existing products.

 

Position Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field with at least 5 years of experience managing engineers and/or technician team is required.
  • Effective communication, interaction, and cooperation skills with manufacturing, sales, other personnel, as well as customers and suppliers.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to be self-managed, give and receive critical feedback, and possess the desire to “win as a team”.
  • Broad engineering abilities and understanding of electrical, mechanical, and manufacturing and industrial engineering disciplines.
  • A working knowledge of PLM systems, SolidWorks, and/or ProE.
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully manage and develop engineering talent, manage the departmental budget, successfully develop products, and drive good documentation and revision control practices.
  • Laser processing experience is beneficial.
  • Knowledge or manufacturing experience with medical products is desired.
  • Six Sigma / Lean training (Black Belt or Green Belt certification preferred).
  • Strong knowledge and experience with ISO 13485
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Power Point, Word, Project).

 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manages manufacturing applications and product development engineering budget and staff.
  • Owns new process introduction and development.
  • Drives an integrated approach to manufacturing processes to ensure smooth transition from concept to launch
  • Reviews project status and actively drives good project management practices.
  • Balances customer expectations and wants and business capabilities.
  • Assists with new process research and development.
  • Assists and participates on customer focus teams.
