Job Summary:

The National Sales Director is responsible for the coordination and leadership of all US-based sales activities with direct management of the regional sales team and US sales channel. This role reports to the VP / Business Unit Manager.

 

To be successful, the person in this role will be highly detail-oriented with a hands-on approach to closing deals. The candidate will build and guide a growth-oriented sales organization while driving an effective strategy that significantly increases the company’s market share. This person will also play a key role shaping AMETEK’s strategic plan and providing the tactical tools for achieving the plan.

 

This role is a key executive leadership position that will have responsibility to drive the short- and long-term growth of the business.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute the sales strategy to increase market share while maximizing profit.
  • Create and implement the sales channel strategy.
  • Establish annual and monthly sales objectives in coordination with the company’s business plan.
  • Meet and exceed monthly, quarterly and annual sales commitments in orders and shipments while achieving expected profit.
  • Provide direction, supervision and mentoring to the Regional Sales Managers. Perform weekly sales funnel reviews to support the weekly / monthly / quarterly forecast.
  • Recruit, train and develop new sales reps, distributors, and OEMs.
  • Own the sales input into the Sales, Inventory, Operations and Planning (SIOP) process.
  • Manage customer needs in order to meet the objectives of the company's overall business plans and strategies.
  • Spend a significant portion of time in the field both with Regional Sales Managers, key accounts and co-traveling with sales personnel.
  • Manage and drive high levels of customer satisfaction through the implementation of structure and process improvements in the sales support organization to drive higher levels of selling time and customer support.
  • Drive full adoption of CRM to develop and manage the opportunity funnel.
  • In conjunction with the VP / Business Unit Manager, establish pricing strategies and discount programs.
  • Develop, implement and maintain compensation and commission plans, sales contests, and incentives.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, with at least 3 years of sales management experience with increasing responsibility.
  • Channel development experience.
  • Revenue growth experience (via new customer acquisition and customer retention).
  • Experience with customer relationship management tools.
  • Ability to travel up to 30%.

 

Desired Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical field (Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering preferred).
  • Master's in Business Administration.
  • Technical sales experience.
  • Industry experience (Uninterruptible Power Supply or Power Electronics / Systems).
  • Experience with Government / Military sales.
  • Experience in direct and indirect sales, working directly with end-customers and through a network of Reps.
  • Experience managing both in-house and field sales personnel.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office tools: PowerPoint, Outlook, Excel, Word.
  • Experience with Business Partner ecosystems supporting the Department of Defense.
  • Must be passionate about getting hands-on and digging into the details.
  • Deep understanding of how to influence a distributed sales team for direct and channel sales.
  • Track record of consistently attaining quota and driving growth.
  • Strong understanding of sales management tactics.
  • Demonstrated leader among employees, and proven ability to hold people accountable and meet expectations.
  • Detail-oriented problem-solving skills; objective approach to evaluating information and creating total business impact.
  • Proven experience as a strong negotiator.
  • Ability to partner across all levels and functional areas of the organization to ensure customer needs are met.

Compensation

Salary Minimum:  $160,000
Salary Maximum:  $190,000
Incentive:  Yes
