BUSINESS UNIT: SOUTHERN AEROPARTS:    Southern Aeroparts (SAI) is an AS9110C and AS9100D certified repair station providing a broad range of maintenance, repair and overhaul services for commercial aircraft components. These services include electromechanical, pneumatic and hydraulic capabilities for all types of electric motors, cargo drives and actuators; fan reverser, flight control and landing gear actuation components; and pneumatic motors and valves. Additionally, SAI maintains a repair rather than replace mentality. AMETEK MRO B&S Aircraft Parts and Accessories, a Class I, II and III repair station with an Unlimited Rating from the FAA, is a recognized industry leader in starter generators, inverters, fuel systems, boost pumps and much more. Position Summary:

Ametek Aerospace & Defense is looking for a Level 1 Staff Accountant to work out of our Tulsa, OK facility.  This position will have a broad range of technical, day-to-day finance/accounting, and project-based responsibilities.  Duties include: Involvement with revenue recognition and compliance, forecasting and budgeting, revenue and gross margin analysis, monthly close activities, Sarbanes-Oxley compliance, as well as involvement in annual audit and consolidation reporting. The candidate should have a BS Degree in Finance or Accounting with 1+ years of experience.  Previous manufacturing experience is preferred but not required. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

 

  • Fundamental understanding of GAAP.
  • Support daily “end of day” reports of operation performance metrics.
  • Develop knowledge of forecast process (weekly, monthly, etc...) 
  • Assists in the gathering of data for evaluation of results of operations, develops experience in trends/risks/opportunities and the actions to ensure the business unit achieves its commitments.
  • Supports the integrity of the General Ledger with periodic reconciliation of accounts.
  • Gathers technical financial data for others within finance.
  • Adheres to effective internal controls to ensure protection of assets and an accurate reporting of financial position. 
  • Contributes to improvements in Working Capital.
  • Assist with data gathering to support internal and external audit requests.
  • Assigned month end closing entries and reconciliations.
  • Monthly journal entries.
  • Responsible for monthly reconciliation of balance sheet and subledger accounts.
  • Responsible for updating month-end closing check list for their assigned tasks.
  • Ensure corporate/divisional policies and procedures are followed.
  • Special projects and other duties as assigned.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and/or Finance required

Experience:

  • 1+ years accounting experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Thorough understanding of GAAP and Sarbanes-Oxley Act compliance theory.
