The On‐Site Service Support Engineer - Europe is responsible for technical support of Gatan products to work and live near a Gatan appointed location. Engineer has proven field experience in requested products, and must pass certification testing for supported products. The engineer is to support, hardware and software configuration, troubleshooting, and maintenance support for Gatan products required. The engineer must insure repaired systems meet operating specifications and documenting service performed. Provides mentoring of non‐Gatan engineers and participates in finding solution to their technical issues on Gatan products. Provides assistance in product workshops and new product support introduction for Gatan products.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Technical Support Certification Level ‐ Proficiency in systems level repair of multiple or extremely complex products within multiple product families are required.

• Must successfully complete ongoing technical training to acquire a thorough knowledge of company equipment, the application of diagnostic techniques and practical application of service aids.

• Occasional visits to Gatan facilities for training and meetings, International travel required.

• Able to read and interpret schematics and electrical diagrams through to the component level.

• Isolate the system fault at the component level for electronic, vacuum, and mechanical systems and repair.

• Experience with current Personal Computer Operation System software installation and configuration.

• Strong knowledge of electronics, electron optics, and applicable operating system knowledge.

• Strong mechanical and analytical skills.

• Ability to approach problems with a sense of ownership, enthusiasm and innovation with strong client service attitude.

• Ability to work on complex learning and development problems as well as teach highly technical information is essential.

• Ability to interface with people at all levels.

• Must be a self‐starter, able to work with minimal supervision in an isolated environment.

• Propose design enhancements or improvements to the existing products design.

• Document work performed in a service report.

• Complete billing or warranty documentation as needed.
