Job Description: 

Scope of Role:

  • The role is to assist in the design, development and support of the ongoing production of electro-magnetic devices such as motors and generators for aerospace, land-based systems and the oil and gas industries.

  • The role requires either an experienced electro-magnetic engineer or an experienced multi-disciplinary engineer with electro-magnetic capability, along with mechanical design capability.

  • The candidate will be required to work within a multi-disciplined team including project leaders and assist the Principal Electro-Magnetics Engineer, mechanical and electronic design engineers, across multiple sites, to support solution delivery.

  • Involved in full product development lifecycle including major product development contracts, bids/proposals, R&D activities and legacy production support.

 

Main Duties/Responsibilities:

  • The design of electro-magnetic devices such as dc/ac motors, generators and sensors.

  • Where necessary, conduct electro-magnetic FE analysis and magnetic circuit calculations using software tools such as MotorCAD and Ansys Maxwell etc.

  • Carry out motor / generator thermal analysis using software tools, such as MotorCAD.

  • Carry out testing on new and existing wound product devices.

  • Preparation of technical proposals to support commercial bids.

  • Support sales visits to customers both in the UK and overseas.

  • Support production for engineering–based issues on electro-magnetic products.

  • Produce engineering reports, specifications, compliance statements, procedures etc. to a high standard.

  • Able to produce engineering documents such as drawings, specifications, reports and procedures.

  • Work effectively within multidisciplinary and inter-departmental teams to support the New Product Introduction process.

  • Work within company procedures and contribute to their development, the objective being to maximise company efficiency whilst meeting all customer requirements.

  • Support the preparation of technical proposals, costings and associated documentation to support business development

  • Providing technical support to the sales teams in order to secure new work
