Job Description: 

Scope of Role: To complete mechanical/electrical assembly work to technical drawings and CMM. 

  

Main Duties/Responsibilities:

You will be carrying out some of the following duties:

  • Mechanical assembly work to drawing and/or CMMs.
  • Electro/mechanical work, fan/motors and or heaters to drawing and/or CMMs.
  • Use basic hand tools and measuring equipment. For example torque drivers, crimping tools, micrometers and verniers
  • Soldering of small components
  • Brazing
  • Carry out, where appropriate, mechanical and electrical tests as defined in the process control documents. For      example: Flash, resistance and inductance
  • Adhere to all company manufacturing procedures.
  • Complete all relevant documentation.
  • Provide any information or help required to customers, suppliers and visitors from other companies within our group of companies who often tour the factory floors, and may well take the opportunity to examine parts, talk to staff or watch them carry out their work.  Therefore, the ideal candidate should be able to communicate at all levels.
  • Participate in any Continuous Improvement and 5S activities that affects the quality or output of the product.
  • Where PPE (personal protective equipment) is provided, you will be required to use it.

Carry out all activities as defined above in a timely manner to ensure the company manufacturing targets are achieved.

  • You will be required to take on ad hoc duties which includes, but is not limited to, training colleagues in line with local skills matrix, department associated tasks and brief secondment to other departments.

Professional Knowledge & Experience:

  1. Able to read and understand drawings and or CMMs and or SOP’s
  2. Able to work from SOPs in tandem with drawings
  3. Able to read, write and understand English.
  4. Knowledge of tools, i.e. circlip pliers, pliers, screwdrivers, tweezers, scrapers, Swiss files etc
  5. Soldering skills on small components
  6. Skills on the use of machines, lathes, drills etc
  7. Brazing desirable
  8. Previous experience in a production environment, assembly of wide range of electro/mechanical products
  9. Experience in assembling small components, i.e. model kits or other small component assembly
  10. Ability to work in a team
  11. Methodical / logical
  12. Good time management
  13. Able to communicate at all levels
