Job Description: 

Position Summary:

The Material Manager for Ametek would be responsible for the overall planning, inventory and supplier management for the Singapore facility and support the site in meeting the strategic priorities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

 

  • Develop, standardize and implement the planning/provisioning methodology and supply chain processes across the Region.
  • Responsibilities include materials planning, inventory management, warehousing, shipping and customer delivery support. 
  • Manage department personnel activities related to forecasting materials, material planning, buying, procurement, receipt, storage and inventory control. 
  • Provides support to production scheduling on all material flow issues to meet production schedules and customer requirements.
  • Negotiates with material vendors on sourcing, pricing and material availability.
  • Use business analytical skills to identify seasonal inventory trends, price variations and optimal stock levels per product type
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education:

  • Degree or industry experience equivalent

Experience:

  •  Minimum 5 years of experience in Aviation/MRO materials management role.
  • Experience working with suppliers and vendors. Strong negotiations skills and experience. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.

Qualifications:

  • Strong management skills to manage a department responsible for buyer, planning and expediting.
  • Proven team player who has demonstrated capabilities in the following areas:  excellent communication, presentation, leadership and interpersonal skills, well developed problem-solving skills; solid organizational skills; and the demonstrated ability to be self-directed and effectively relate to all levels of an organization.
  • Looking for a hands-on individual with the ability to see the big picture.
  • Ability to work well under pressure, multi task and meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrated ability to set goals and objectives to meet Business Unit expectations.
  • The right person will be ambitious and flexible who wants to learn and grow professionally.
  • Must read, write and speak English fluently. Multiple language skills would be an advantage
  • Proficient with the MS Office suite. Be able to generate reports, analyse and recommend strategies

Typical Working Conditions:

  • Work will be conducted mostly indoors in an office type environment.
  • Exposure to heat or cold will mostly be limited to when walking from one building to another or if bay doors have been opened to allow for shipping and receiving activities. The use of PPE such as safety glasses and safety toed shoes are required in designated working areas.
