Position Summary:

As an Electrical Engineer Intern, you will participate in development of AC and DC products that utilize advanced power conversion, embedded firmware control, and user/data communications interfaces. This position is onsite in San Diego, CA. It is a year round intern position with the expectation to work 20-28 hours during the school year with the opportunity to work full-time during breaks. 

 

 Responsibilities:

The responsibilities entail working with an Engineering team in the design/development of new high-power AC and DC power products.

 

  1. Support design activities and verification testing of power circuits, magnetics, analog/digital and DSP embedded control circuits, and data/user communications interfaces.
  2. Interface with Electrical, Digital, Mechanical, and PCBA Design Engineers to support design activities.
  3. Conduct testing and troubleshooting of power products, at the circuit, subassembly, and unit level, to determine specification compliances and resolve performance problems.
  4. Implement lab test setups and conduct data collection during verification testing of products.
  5. Evaluate and select components and materials to satisfy design requirements.
  6. Generate and release Engineering reports and Production product documentation.

 

Requirements:

  • Junior or Senior year studying Electrical Engineering.
  • Must be able to commit min 20 to 28 hours per week during school year.
  • Knowledge of design of analog and digital electronics, working experience a plus.
  • Proficient in common engineering design tools, such as simulation software, mathematical analysis, schematic capture, MS Excel/Word, and database applications.
  • Knowledge of PWB layout software is desirable.
  • Knowledge is desirable in the use of PC-based development tools and firmware (C, C++, Visual Basic) for microcontrollers, DSPs, and user interface (data communications, GUIs).
  • Good interpersonal skills, written and oral communication skills, and ability to work cooperatively in a team environment.
  • Good organizational skills
  • Ability to multitask effectively and meet deadlines. 

 

Salary range: $25 to $28 per hour

Compensation

Salary Minimum:  $50,000
Salary Maximum:  $60,000
