Job Summary
AMETEK Power Instruments is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Engineering Intern to join our team in Rochester, NY. As an Engineering Intern focusing on Quality and Environmental, Health, and Safety (EH&S), you will play a crucial role in ensuring that our processes adhere to the highest standards. This internship provides an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a dynamic engineering environment while contributing to the continuous improvement of our quality and EH&S practices.
The internship position will work on projects and tasks initiated by the quality and EH&S team. Additionally, the candidate will be expected to collaborate regularly with operations, engineering, and logistics personnel. The candidate will be able to develop numerous tools in order to improve design, documentation, manufacturing efficiency, and product quality.
This opportunity is available only to Rochester, New York students only. No relocation, housing, or transportation allowances will be provided.
Responsibilities
- Create and update documentation with specific details to maintain process stability and awareness
- Organize and catalog existing documentation, ensuring accessibility and version control
- Facilitate the implementation of quality software (QT9) across the business unit
- Recommend lean manufacturing principles to promote a safe and efficient work environment
- Support the development and tracking of key performance indicators (KPIs)
- Contribute to the development of EH&S training materials and classes for employees
- Collaborate with engineering and manufacturing to identify opportunities for process improvement
Qualifications
Education Requirements
- Currently enrolled in a relevant engineering or related program at an accredited university. Junior level or higher pursuing a 4-year degree
- 3.0 overall GPA and accepted into the engineering major
Knowledge, Skill, & Ability Requirements
- Self-driven and willing to learn, apply new concepts, and accept new challenges
- Ability to communicate and collaborate with cross-functional teams
- Have a basic understanding of lean manufacturing and/or experience of a manufacturing environment
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Access, Visio, Project)
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Familiarity with quality management systems and EH&S regulations is a plus
- Basic understanding of electronics, manufacturing, and tooling preferred
