WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Perform all optical fabrication processes including, but not limited to, coring, curve generating, plano generating, beveling, blocking, grinding, polishing, test plating, optical testing using an interferometer, cleaning, assembly and more
  • Performs complete set-ups without assistance and operates optical fabrication equipment on assignments of a high degree of difficulty
  • Particular skill and emphasis in the lapping & polishing of spheres is key
  • Interpret advanced metrology results (micro-roughness, high order figure error, specific Zernikes, and Power Spectral Density), in order to make proper adjustments in process to achieve ever greater results
  • Experience with CNC equipment (Optotech, Satisloh, Schneider, etc.) is a plus
  • Must have the ability to improvise if ideal conditions do not exist
  • Gives assistance and instruction to lower level opticians under the guidance of the area supervisor
  • Maintains work area and equipment in a neat and orderly condition
  • Follows prescribed safety regulations
  • Understands and follows ISO procedures
  • Reads and interprets technical drawings and process instructions
  • Understands the preparation of and assists in the creation of process instructions as assigned
  • Perform maintenance and preventatives maintenance on equipment and tooling

 

 

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

  • HS Diploma plus 7 to 12 or more years related work experience
  • Working knowledge of shop math
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings
  • Mechanical ability
  • Able to use hand measurement tools (calipers, micrometers, etc.)
  • Experience in manufacturing environment
  • Experience with troubleshooting of processes
  • Team player with good communication skills
  • Careful, well organized and detail oriented
  • Strong computer skills including MS Work and Excel

Compensation

Salary Minimum:  $80,000
Salary Maximum:  $100,000
