The Senior Application Software Engineer candidate will report to the Software Director and will be based remotely.

 

The Senior Applications Software Engineer will:

 

  • Partner with applications scientists, product management, and software engineering in the design and development of software packages used to collect, analyze, and process Electron Microscope data.
  • Design and implement application software, including analysis, data processing, and GUI.
  • Help optimize software performance using multi-threading, GPU’s, etc.
  • Implement interfaces (TCP/IP, PCIe) to high end data acquisition equipment (cameras, detectors).
  • Work with 3rd party vendors to develop requirements for drivers and other HW interfaces.
  • Provide support to application scientists, product managers, and key customers to develop next generation hardware and software products for scientific imaging.
  • Design and develop software using C++, C#, object-oriented methodologies, to collect and process data from imaging and analytical instruments.
  • Work directly with Product and R&D Managers to define project goals.
  • Coordinate with other engineering departments (Electrical, R&D, Service).
  • Report on project status in accordance with defined project plans.

 

Senior Applications Software Engineer Requirements: 

 

  • Self-motivated and capable of working remotely.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Willing to learn new techniques and some science.
  • Willing to explore and understand the larger existing code base when designing solutions.
  • At least five years’ experience in OOP, with some experience in C++/C#.
  • BS and/or MS degree in computer science, electrical engineering, physics, or related field.
  • Background with software development for Scientific or Medical applications.
  • Experience with Data Processing and Image Analysis a plus.
