Job Description:

The Senior Electronic Technician is responsible for performing a variety of technical assignments such as testing, troubleshooting, maintaining and calibrating electronic equipment. Tests high voltage AC and DC switching mode power supplies and sub-assemblies for performance capabilities and design adequacy. Troubleshoot analog and digital circuits down to the component level. Have a good understanding of power electronic theory. Have a good working knowledge of test equipment such as oscilloscopes, DMM’s, RF signal generator, spectrum analyzer, and power meters. Works from sketches and verbal instructions under limited supervision.

 

The Electronic Engineer Technician will:

 

  • Build, modify, rework and test R&D prototypes during the engineering development lifecycle

  • Perform mechanical, electrical, and/or system level troubleshooting, leading to the identification of root cause and corrective action of instrument failures

  • Have proficiency with hand tools, precision measurement equipment, soldering, crimping, electrical test equipment, and/or machine tools

  • Have the ability to read and understand mechanical drawings and electrical schematics

  • Have proficieny with multi-meters, high voltage power supplies, oscilloscopes and pulse generators

  • Conduct testing of electronic and mechanical systems

  • Operations related electronic, mechanical and laboratory equipment necessary to construct, test, evaluate, process, repair and maintain specific products or equipment

  • Have good soldering skills, cable building and cable drawing using Visio

  • Have strong written and verbal communication skills

 

Experience with the processes below are preferred but not required:  

 

  • Interfaces with electrical design engineers in coordinating the release of new products

  • Acts as liaison between internal engineering and manufacturing departments, contract manufacturers and other vendors during R&D stages 

  • Ability to support engineers with Orcad schematics such as checking symbol validity, generating, checking netlist and identify design rule errors

  • Checks BOMs for accuracy, RoHS compliance, obsolete parts

  • Generate assembly Instruction which includes step by step instructions and graphics such photographs, assembly drawings (Done in PowerPoint)

  • Enters all ECO documentation in PLM system (preferably Agile)

  • Identifies substitute electronic components for obsolete or RoHS non-compliant parts

  • Knowledge of Printed circuit layout

  • Resolves electrical engineering issues encountered during and after product release

  • Ability to work with manufacturers to resolve issues such as basic electrical questions

 

Electronic Engineer Technician Requirements:

 

  • 3+yrs experience in Electronic Technician role
  • Physical requirements:
    • Must be able to work indoors in an office setting. Requires full capabilities to work full time at a computer workstation and in an electronics lab around electrical hazards.
  • Motivated and well organized in their work product
  • AA/AS degree in related technology or equivalent technical training; equivalent experience or combination of schooling and experience preferred.
