Electrical Engineer

TMC is the world leader in precision floor vibration isolation technology serving major research centers, OEM and end-user semiconductor manufacturers, university research laboratories, drug discovery companies, and nanotechnology labs. We are currently seeking an Electrical Engineer to join our team at our headquarters in Peabody, MA.


We are a unit of AMETEK, Inc., a leading global manufacturer of electronic instruments and electro-mechanical devices with annualized sales exceeding $5 billion.
 

Primary Duties:

The EE role at TMC will be focused primarily on conceptualizing, designing, simulating, documenting, prototyping, and manufacturing new active vibration control and magnetic field cancellation components and systems. The successful candidate will also be expected to diagnose and remedy problems with existing product, improve existing products, lead cost cutting activities, justify new projects to internal stakeholders, and oversee projects on-time and within budget.

Required Qualifications:

  • BS or higher in Electrical Engineering
  • 3 - 5 years relevant work experience in the following:
    1. Strong knowledge of PCB design, prototype, and manufacture
    2. Strong knowledge of ECAD design tools such as Altium, Eagle, or Orcad
    3. Knowledge of Analog Signal filters
    4. Strong knowledge of Data Acquisition for variety of sensor types
    5. Familiarity with data acquisition specs (resolution, noise tolerances, etc.)
    6. Familiarity with ADC and DAC operations
    7. Hands-on experience with oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, multi-meters, soldering irons, and other common electrical engineering tools
    8. Knowledge of communication protocols such as SPI, I2C, and Parallel
    9. Knowledge of various memory types such as ROM or RAM
    10. Knowledge of power distribution and amplification techniques of both AC and DC
    11. Knowledge of embedded programming such as C, C++, C# or Python languages
    12. Experience using LabVIEW, Spice, Multisim, or similar for electrical simulation
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Self-motivated, detail oriented, and able to succeed in cross-functional teams with minimal supervision

Desired Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with CE and/or UL marking requirements
  • Experience working in an ISO 9001 environment
  • Able to demonstrate proficiency in understanding the interaction of systems with mechanical, electrical, and electronic content
  • “Roll up your sleeves” attitude in applying Engineering experience, knowledge, and skills in contributing to team efforts
  • Detail-oriented and organized, with the ability to multitask and display consistent follow-through on tasks, assignments, projects, etc.
  • Experience in industries related to acoustics, mechanical vibration, and magnetism or magnetic fields a plus
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain a safe environment.
