Reports to: Supply Chain Manager
Position Overview:
Under the direction of the Supply Chain Manager this position is directly involved with the management of the upstream and downstream value-added flow and costs of materials/commodities to support as they relate to Quality, Delivery, Inventory, Innovation and Cost. Establishes/maintains key Metrics and performance measurements, and is involved with project management of key products, programs, and/or suppliers.
Job Core Responsibilities:
- Supports the development and implementation of commodity strategies for allocated sites, ensuring conformance to AMETEK policies, processes, and direction.
- Manages source change & sourcing activity from idea generation through to FAI approval & production handover adhering to agreed processes and resolving issues that arise in an effective and timely manner
- Carries out supplier research, evaluation & selection and to continually strengthen our supply base and ensure we are matching opportunities with appropriate suppliers.
- Develops and negotiates contracts as required and manages enforcement of contractual obligations with suppliers within allocated commodities.
- Works within the regional team to deliver against agreed KPIs supporting our wider procurement strategy
- Ability to analyze supplier capacity and manage supply base
- Works with internal stakeholders to ensure we are identifying opportunities to drive down cost, eliminate the risk of adverse PPV and drive optimum supply chain performance. Supports resolution of cost, quality and delivery issues within the site & regional team as requested.
- Within assigned commodities, supports development of strategic relationships & leads/participates in supplier account reviews
- Operates effectively in a matrix organization, ensuring alignment across sites, divisions & other commodity teams working collaboratively to deliver against wider business objectives
- Review performance data related to purchasing effectiveness and take a role in driving corrective actions where necessary. Proactively work with major suppliers within assigned commodities to discover and exploit opportunities for continuous improvement, performance improvement, savings, and other efficiencies by working across supplier and internal organizations.
Position Requirements:
- Required Bachelor’s Degree
- 2+ years of experience in a strategic procurement role
- 5 years of increasing experience with a proven record of executing the tactical and strategic duties of the Purchasing function in electronics manufacturing
Preferred Requirements:
- Demonstrated capability/experience in a strategic procurement role
- Ability to implement a commodity strategy, covering all aspects such as cost/quality/delivery etc across if required multi sites
- Ability to accurately assess key business metrics and situations
- Experience with first article purchase order and work transfer processes
- Ability to operate in a highly matrixed organization
- Strong project management and prioritization skills
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with all internal and external stakeholders and ability to influence.
- Demonstrates a high level of ethical behavior in exercising judgment and discretion in matters of significance
