The Detector Process Engineer will provide the technical expertise required to characterize and maintain Germanium (Ge) detector manufacturing processes, introducing, where applicable, statistical process control techniques. This role also drives process improvements and reduces process-related variation through continuous improvement activities. The ideal candidate is an effective communicator, able to work under tight deadlines, and ensures project schedules are maintained, and is able to support the germanium detector manufacturing group production goals. ORTEC is an industry leader in the design and manufacture of ionizing radiation detectors, nuclear instrumentation, analysis software, and integrated systems.
Responsibilities include:
- Optimize and track processing and tool performances.
- Optimize and track the performance of existing manufacturing processes.
- Lead continuous improvement activities and related projects such as process document development/digitalization, equipment specification and installation, process design and validation etc.….
- Perform equipment/process audits, and implement corrective actions.
- Collaborate with R&D engineers during the introduction of new processes and products to manufacturing.
- Troubleshoot failures in detector systems to identify point of origin. Work with the Detector Manufacturing Manager, engineers, and technicians to resolve failure.
- Develop and maintain work instructions, train and qualify technicians.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
BS degree in Chemistry, Physics, or Electrical Engineering required, MS/PhD preferable; four to five years experience with semiconductor detectors.
TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE:
- Good working knowledge of semiconductor manufacturing processes.
- Good working knowledge of the physics of semiconductor devices.
- Good working knowledge of semiconductor detectors.
- Good working knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite of products.
