SUMMARY:
The ideal candidate will provide the technical expertise required to apply innovative principles to the design and manufacture of High Purity Germanium detectors and related products. The Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for the design and fabrication of cryogenic vacuum systems, conducting experiments and evaluations to improve and innovate product designs. Must be an effective communicator, work under tight deadlines, ensure project schedules are maintained, and be able to support the manufacturing group production goals.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Design and fabrication of cryogenic vacuum systems to house High Purity Germanium detectors.
Create detailed fabrication drawings for parts and assemblies using CAD technology and communicate with suppliers on these designs.
Building prototypes of newly designed systems.
Participate in continuous improvement activates and related projects such as assembly document documentation, equipment specification and installation, estimating budgets and time scopes for each project etc.….
Collaborate with R&D engineers during the introduction of new products to manufacturing and ensuring that products meet compliance regulations.
Support procurement with part obsolescence and supply chain issues.
Support documentation control to process engineering change requests.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Not immediately, possible in the future.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
BS degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering required; 3 to 5 years’ related experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, fabrication drawings or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, and permutations. Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
