Job Summary

The Global Commodity Leader position manages commodities related to electronics, electrical, and mechanical, striving to improve flow from a global supplier base to support customer needs and reduce material cost to improve bottom line.  Responsibilities will include developing / managing key commodity strategies, managing transition of volume to newly developed partnerships and operate as a key team member in driving Supply Chain projects to achieve business objectives.

 

Roles & Responsibilities

This position has responsibility for:

 

  • Analyze commodity related data to generate strategy and action plans to reduce company’s total cost of ownership (pricing, freight, tariffs, value add, expanding supply base, etc.).
  • Support Supply Chain initiatives to leverage global spend opportunities
  • Generate cost savings projects related to direct materials and manage the implementation with purchasing, engineering, manufacturing, etc.  to support global customer base for our high mix / low volume products.
  • Support cross functional teams that are challenged with identifying and developing a nimble, effective Supply Base that will support manufacturing strategies, and Product Roadmaps.
  • Act as liaison with appropriate counsel in developing Global supply agreements to ensure protection of Intellectual Property and derive benefits around quality, delivery and, cost
  • Develop and maintain long-term supplier relationships that will deliver competitive advantages including lowest total cost, highest quality products, and superior customer service.
  • Remain current with industry supply trends and provide market intelligence to business.
  • Communicate direction, and lead negotiations with all levels of supplier management to develop and deploy appropriate strategies, contracts, and business relationships that satisfy current and future business needs.
  • Monitor key supplier performance for on-time delivery, quality and other needed KPIs as part of our continuous improvement environment.
  • Partner with Quality and Purchasing Team as needed to address / manage key supplier corrective action activities.

Minimum Qualifications (Experience and Skills)

  • 8-10 years’ experience in purchasing and/or commodity management in an Electronics or Electrical/Mechanical Device industry, with high mix-low volume environment.
  • Contract negotiations / vendor management / influencing skills with a proven track record.
  • Ability to work well in a high-pace dynamic environment, handle multiple projects simultaneously, and ensure task completion and deadlines are met as required.
  • Strong project management, organizational, and analytical skills.
  • Able to solve problems using a systematic approach and provide sound solutions to resolve day to day or strategic opportunities.
  • Able to write reports, business correspondence, and standard procedures. Being able to effectively present information and respond to request from internal and external customers as well as suppliers.
  • Experience and expertise with sourcing and contracting ERP tools.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel & Power Point

 

 

Education Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from four-year college or university
  • Master degree preferable. 
  • ISM CPM or CPSM or equivalent Certification desirable.

 

Work Environment

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment.
