Abaco Systems is seeking for a strong cost account supporting the UK plant manager and the UK VP of Operations. This is role reports to the Plant Controller. 

 

Points of Interest

Responsibilities

·       Build strong relationships with operation leadership & peers to support & drive overall operational targets.

·       Manage monthly closing process for UK plant including accruals, inventory costing, FIFO, obsolescence/ warranty reserves, and consequent balance sheet reviews and account reconciliations.

·       Provide value added detailed analysis of manufacturing variances, inflation/ deflation, productivity metrics and standard margins.

·       Support weekly & monthly operating reviews including revenue reviews, inventory and operating reviews.

·       Prepare yearly Budget roll ups, monthly estimates and track variances to actuals.

·       Drive working capital improvements, including PP&E, payables and inventory. Reviewing different options like buy vs lease, documenting justifications/ NPV calculations, challenging the teams on their requests & assumptions.

·       Provide leadership in controllership and ensure compliance with UK & US GAAP in relation to inventory accounting/ physical inventory controls and standard costing.

·       Maintain and improve processes and controls associated with manufacturing costs and inventory valuation. 

·       Lead and manage the quarterly excess and obsolete inventory review process. 

·       Ensure validity and accuracy of ERP through analysis, internal audit, and coordination with inventory control, production and work order processing. 

·       Assist in developing and documenting policies and procedures, including system requirements and internal controls. 

·       Represent Finance/Accounting on lean projects designed to improve operations, reduce costs, making changes to ERP etc.

 

Requirements

  • Qualified Accountant or Masters degree in Business, Finance, Accounting or related field
  • Relevant financial experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience demonstrating skill compiling and preparing key performance metric reports.
  • Experience demonstrating skill in standard costing environment and operational Finance
  • Experience demonstrating skill identifying and implementing process improvements.
  • Experience demonstrating skill using & being able to build SQL/ MS Access database and/or use other analytical software.
  • Experience demonstrating skill using SAP.
  • Self-motivated, autonomous, and proven “do–it yourself” attitude.
  • Team player with developed and proven leadership and influencing skills
  • Strong reporting, analysis and project management skills
  • Attention to detail with emphasis on relevant reporting to ensure deliverables are connected with operating plans
  • Excellent verbal/written communication skills. 
  • Ability to multi-task, work under pressure and appropriately prioritize tasks to meet deadlines
  • SAP experience is a plus but on required
