Position Summary:

The Area Sales Manager performs direct selling, product promotion, and product support for highly technical scientific instruments for customers directly in the North and East region of India and through partners in Middle East.

Princeton Applied Research (PAR) and Solartron Analytical are the global leaders in the design, manufacture, and support of instrumentation for research in electrochemistry and materials analysis.  Over a combined 110 years of development knowledge are in our instruments and accessories, advancing the research into the physical and electrochemical properties of batteries, fuel cells, capacitors, corrosion inhibitors, organic coatings and sensors, as well as the characterization of materials for dielectrics and solar cells.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

 

  • Engage prospective customers to effectively position products from each line (Princeton Applied Research and Solartron Analytical) for evaluation and purchase by new and existing customers within the territory.
  • Develop and deploy a territory management plan to maximize efficiency of customer visits and the application of travel resources against the dynamics involved in responding to customer needs.
  • Maintain the integrity of data in Salesforce CRM to achieve pipeline visibility, to organize and inform sequencing of tasks within the territory and to manage forecasting of sales pursuits.
  • Generate quotations and coordinate responses to tenders as required.
  • Report on customer requirements, activities and tactics of competing suppliers and competitive offerings to management and marketing staff.
  • Demonstrate products and provide customer support of products including use of equipment in customer applications, installation, and user training.
  • Organize and participate in trade fairs and periodic academic conferences within the sales territory.
  • Ensure sales contracts and transactions occur in alignment with AMETEK Advanced Measurement Technology policies and regulatory requirements.

 

The ideal candidate

 

  • Has a track record of selling complex capital systems in the focused markets, based on both technical and budgetary value at multiple decision levels within the customer organization
  • The individual will be responsible for Electrochemistry products sales.
  • Should have the experience and skills to manage a large, high potential territory, and effectively increase the exposure for the company and our products that results in development and delivery of revenue growth.
  • Key account management for AMETEK’s SI product line, throughout the territory
  • Be accountable and provide comprehensive feedback on opportunities and growth in the region.

 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

 

  • University degree in Chemistry, Electrochemistry, Engineering or one of the natural sciences required.  Master’s degree or PhD preferred.
  • 8 to 10 years of professional sales experience required; additional related experience or training preferred.

 

Language skills

 

  • Must be bi-lingual with fluent level of proficiency in Hindi and in English.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.
  • Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
  • Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format.
  • Ability to effectively present information to management and/or public groups.

 

Technical knowledge/requirement

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in technical or scientific field required, Chemistry or Physics degree preferred.  Master’s degree or PhD preferred.
  • Eight to ten years of successful selling experience with technical products.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office software applications.
  • Familiarity with Salesforce CRM or other CRM applications preferred.

 

COMMENTS

 

  • 70% travel typically required, primarily domestic, occasional international.
  • Ability to work within a matrix organization, apart from headquarters and support staff, requires a highly motivated, self-starter.
