AMETEK EMC is looking for a Product Development engineer to work closely with customers to develop mechanical and electrical medical device-based components and products.  A key aspect of this role is to understand the product and customer requirements; must have organizational alighment and customer focus.



Position Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related Sciences with at least 3 years of applicable experience is required.
  • Demonstrated project management skills.
  • Experience in medical devices manufacturing to an ISO 13485 standard or similar desired.
  • Experience in an FDA regulatory environment a plus.
  • Ability to create designs using SolidWorks, AutoCAD, and/or Creo.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.  Experience with Microsoft Visio, Project Manager, and Access Database preferable.
  • Experience in design and development of medical device components or assemblies is desired.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Exercise broad engineering abilities and an understanding of electrical, mechanical, manufacturing, and industrial engineering; A general understanding of each area with a focus in one or more discipline.
  • Ability to performing DOEs and statistical data analysis.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop products by applying new ideas and approaches to resolve a broad scope of problems, proven ability to solicit and use input from people with diverse viewpoints.
  • Effective communication, interaction, and cooperation skills with manufacturing, sales, other Avicenna personnel, as well as customers and suppliers.
  • Experience planning and executing validations (IQ/OQ/PQ) for product launch.
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple projects of moderate complexity through New Product Development (NPD) phases.
  • Creates cost estimate for quotes for new products and manages cost model throughout development process.
  • Ability to assess and mitigate risk using process failure mode effect (pFMEA) and analysis approach.
  • Creates and develops process documentation to be used by production for product launch.
  • Generates and executes engineering change notices and manage changes throughout organization.
  • Designs and develops tooling and fixturing for use in prototyping and manufacturing.
  • A “roll-up-your-sleeves”, self-managed work style along with an openness to give and receive critical, productive feedback.
  • A work style which can focus on individual deliverables coupled with a desire to meet and work with new people.
  • Ability to delegate tasks and work through engineering technicians.
  • Superior skills to generate and use input from other team members with diverse backgrounds and viewpoints. Demonstrated success in a team structure.
  • Proven decision-making abilities and demonstrated sound judgment.
