Job Title: ZYGO - Applications Engineer

Zygo seeks a technically confident, detail-oriented team player with strong communication skills to drive new business and provide applications support to our customers. This Applications Engineer will work with Zygo’s displacement measuring interferometer product line (ZMI) which enables leading edge manufacturing of integrated circuits and displays.
This is a highly visible position that will interface with many parts of the business including sales, engineering, production, purchasing, and quality. You will play a critical role in delivering consistent results for our customers by understanding their requirements, testing use cases, solving applications issues, and providing essential communications for maintaining our key OEM relationships. This position will report to the Product Manager.
What You'll Do

Document, plan, coordinate, and execute experiments to validate customer use cases. Communicate the results to customers or their representatives via email, teleconference, or face-to-face meetings using word documents, power point, or other appropriate medium.

Qualify new applications through analysis or experimentation and recommend a bill of materials (BOM) to fit the customer requirements.

Support sales team as the product expert during customer emails, calls, or visits. Occasionally represent ZYGO at trade shows and conferences.

Address incoming technical or service inquiries from customers in a timely manner according to an agreed upon schedule.

Train customers on basic technology, systems design, and product use. Assist customers with setup and integration of our products, including optical alignment and establishing communications, both on site and remotely.

Represent the voice of the customer during internal meetings.
What You'll Bring
B.S. Engineering, Physics or related field.
Demonstrated ability to communicate complex technical information clearly and succinctly, self-manage responsibilities, and work collaboratively with a team.
Must be willing and able to travel internationally (25%).
What's Nice to Have
Electrical or Computer Engineering background.
3+ Years of experience in a hardware-centric technical environment.
Familiarity with Solid Works.
Ability to code applications (C, C++, Python).
Previous experience with motion control or position feedback systems.
