WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Provide technical support for the manufacturing teams, focusing on electrical and electro-optical components and automated test systems. 

  • Develop & implement test fixtures that can test PCBAs, Lasers, Power Supplies, Optical systems. 

  • Working in a concurrent engineering environment, coordinate the transition of new product development including testing, integration, processes, procedures, tooling, capital equipment and fixturing. 

  • Evaluate and advise the manufacturing teams in their efforts to continuously improve assembly and test processes, focusing on PCBAs, Laser systems, Optical testing, and electronic components. 

  • Provide failure analysis for materials rejected in QC and/or production, including PCBAs, Power Supplies, electrical cables. Ability to troubleshoot to component level is required. 

  • Analyze production & field failures and provide Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA). 

  • Provide technical and problem-solving assistance to customers, vendors and Zygo production teams. 

  • Assist in the development, training and direction of associate engineers, designers, technicians, and instrument assemblers. This includes technical procedure writing, hands-on training, and verbal training. 

  • Evaluate and qualify potential suppliers/vendors and develop partnerships with key ones. 

  • Participate in field trips, vendor visits and technical meetings related to projects. 

  • Prepare reports and make recommendations to Zygo management regarding progress on projects. 

  • Write detailed assembly & test procedures & train production technicians. 

  • Specify and/or develop new equipment and tooling requirements. 

  • Support Process FMEA. 

  • Participate in and/or lead Continuous Improvement Projects. 

  • Communicate with Engineering while new projects are in the design phase and identify facilities & work cell requirements for the new product’s assembly & test.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

  • B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering with a strong background electrical manufacturing engineering. 

  • Minimum 3 years' of work experience in the design and implementation of manufacturing processes used in manufacturing state-of-the-art instruments which incorporate electrical, mechanical, software and optical components. 

  • Strong fundamental knowledge of PCBAs, Power Supplies, Cables & Components. 

  • Must have hands-on hardware and software experience, Python, C++,

  • Working knowledge of Component & Assembly Test Methodologies. 

  • Ability to conduct Root Cause & Corrective Action for failed components and assemblies.  

  • Ability to read electrical blueprints. 

  • Ability to design fixtures and tools to support production assembly and tests. 

  • Ability to write detailed assembly and test procedures using Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). 

  • Experience in managing work flow in a fast-paced production environment. 
  • Experience working within a multi-disciplined manufacturing team. 
  • Excellent Verbal & Written Skills. 

  • Excellent and Timely Communication Skills.
