PRECITECH designs and manufactures ultra precision machining solutions for freeform diamond turning, milling, and grinding which are used to produce optical lenses, mold inserts, mirrors, and precision mechanical components. Our diamond turning machines produce rotationally symmetric, asymmetric, freeform, and sculpted geometries with form tolerances in the sub-micron range and nanometer surface finishes.


We are currently seeking an experienced Software Engineer to join our Engineering team at AMETEK Precitech, Inc. As a global leader in the design and manufacture of ultra-precision machining solutions for freeform diamond turning, milling, and grinding, AMETEK Precitech systems are used to produce optical lenses, mold inserts, mirrors, and precision mechanical components for a multitude of applications. AMETEK Precitech is headquartered in scenic Keene, New Hampshire, an iconic hub of New England living, with sales/service offices located throughout the world. You will have the opportunity to apply a diverse set of interests and skills to help shape the future of our industry. You will play a critical role in the design, coding, test development, deployment and troubleshooting of our current state-of-the-art machines, as well as engage in the development of next generation of ultra-precision products. The ability to create and debug machine control software, as well as integrate third-party automation platforms, is of particular importance. You will be a key part of a small and passionate Engineering unit comprised of likeminded individuals. Specific knowledge of the ultra-precision market is not essential, but relevant experience and pride in one’s accomplishments are.

 

Core Responsibilities:
• Design, develop, test and maintain features for motion control and machine automation systems
• Troubleshoot and perform root cause analysis of software bugs
• Write software to integrate with third-party components, such as robotics, and other automation platforms
• Write and maintain software design documentation using UML and similar tools
• Write and maintain processes and procedures for development and machines
• Develop technical expertise in company’s unique hardware and software systems and provide guidance and support to company staff and customers
• Desire to excel within a small, high-performing Agile development team that hits delivery targets
Education/Experience:
• Bachelor of Science in Computer Science or related degree (or equivalent experience)
• 4-7 years of experience developing software
Skills Desired:
• C#, .NET, WinForms, WPF, UI/UX development
• Strong knowledge and experience with Object Oriented Design/Programming and UML
• Windows or Linux development experience
• GIT, SVN, or other source control tools
• TDD, BDD, automated test experience
• Experience on an Agile Software Development team (Scrum, Kanban, Lean, etc.)
• CI/CD, Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket/GitHub, Jenkins
• Scripting: any language (python, bash, PowerShell, batch, etc.)
Additional Skills:
• Tune PID controls and apply digital filtering for various motion control applications
• Understand electrical schematics and be comfortable using test equipment such as volt meters and oscilloscopes
• Delta Tau Motion controls
• Embedded systems, Raspberry-Pi, Arduino, etc.
• Knowledge of computer networks and networking
