Prototype Machinist

AMETEK Precitech, Inc., located in Keene, NH, is a world leader in the design and manufacture of ultra-precision diamond turning machines distributed globally. We are a unit of AMETEK, Inc., a global distributor of Electromechanical and Electronic Instruments. We presently have an opening for a Prototype Machinist, to produce one-of-a-kind machined components in support of the R & D department and new product development. This is a unique position where the machinist will work in close cooperation with engineers and participate in product design.

Position Responsibilities

• Produce various components to print follow all standard machining practices.
• Requires an understanding of CNC programming, G-Code and M-Code, machine tool setup and integration, tooling, macro-programming, fixture, and gage design.
• Experience with component machining processes including manual machining and multi-axis CNC machining centers.
• Experienced in fixture design, milling, turning and surface grinding.
• Experience with CAD (Solid Works, and CAM (Master Cam/Cam Works).
• Experience with GD & T and various metrology instruments to measure dimensionally as well as for surface finish.
• Familiar with machining a variety of substrates to include plastics and exotics.
• Perform difficult CNC Machinist work including progressive machining of a variety of parts and different materials where very close tolerances must be maintained.
• Effective at planning, prioritizing, and organizing tasks and activities with the ability to deal with competing demands within specified timelines.
• Team player with the ability to work collaboratively.
• Effectively communicate with all departments and perform work in other areas of the company as the business requires.

Requirements:

The successful candidate will have 5 or more years of experience in a similar position with demonstrated experience in the machining and tool making trades.  Associates degree or equivalent training will be helpful. Prior experience working with engineering and designers, strong knowledge of setting up and operating CNC equipment and operation of a Proto Trac necessary. Self-motivation and organization skills are a must.
