Precitech designs and manufactures the world’s most advanced ultra-precision machining solutions for freeform diamond turning, milling, and grinding which are used to produce optical lenses, mold inserts, mirrors, and precision mechanical components for defense, aerospace, consumer optics and other high-tech industries. We are seeking an Engineering Manager with the experience and ability to train, lead, mentor, coach and inspire our team of highly talented Engineering professionals to significantly impact our rapidly growing business. The Engineering Manager will apply solid, practical technical skills and strong leadership abilities to drive successful completion of Engineering commitments.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
- Lead a multi-disciplinary Engineering team in the development and release of Engineering deliverables consistent with the product development process, customer requirements, and interdepartmental needs.
- Assign Engineering resources, including outside contractors as appropriate, to projects to ensure successful on-time completion.
- Provide technical support to Sales, Operations, Service, and Quality
- Hands-on team player that leads by example and consistently coaches others for improvement
- Develop and maintain strong positive collaborative working relationships with interdepartmental team members, gaining the trust and ability to influence others.
- Plan and execute product development, product support, technology development, and improvement projects to meet schedule and budget objectives.
- Proactively identify external resources when needed, facilitate contractual relationships, and integrate external resources into development teams.
- Plan and execute goal setting, performance reviews, salary reviews, promotion plans, and create and update job descriptions.
Qualifications:
- Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering; advanced degree preferred
- Minimum 5 years’ experience leading an Engineering team
- Strong leadership skills including the ability to inspire and motivate.
- Ability to prioritize and multitask.
- Experience in Engineering Project Management
- Strong design/development background in a manufacturing environment
- Solid technical skills, with a passion for precision
- Results-oriented, with a strong “get it done” attitude.
- Ability to translate corporate and organization goals into meaningful actions for Engineering team
- Outstanding written and verbal communication and presentation skills with the ability to interact with a variety of audiences.
- Strong analytical and creative problem-solving skills, and the ability to simplify complex ideas and processes.
- Detail-oriented and organized, with the ability to multitask and display consistent follow-through on tasks, assignments, projects, etc.
- “Roll up your sleeves” attitude in applying Engineering experience, knowledge and skills in contributing to team efforts.
