Abaco Systems is looking for a Buyer to join our team here in Huntsville! Strong candidates will demonstrate strategic and tactical thinking, coupled with strong communication, project management and planning skills. Candidate must be self-driven, detail-oriented, and comfortable with ambiguity. A proven track record of driving cost reductions, implementing continuous process improvements, creative thinking, and a quality mindset is required.

Role Responsibilities
•    Create purchase orders for the acquisition of materials/services
•    Determine methodology to process requisitions based on dollar amount, deadlines, existing open contracts, and/or competitive bidding
•    Research, interview and negotiate with suppliers to obtain quotes, lead time to product specification
•    Coordinate expedites with vendors, as need arises
•    Interface with Engineering and Project Management staff to solve commodity/component challenges
•    Identify market trends in commodities and escalates potential risks to the appropriate parties
•    Serve as liaison between vendors and finance to resolve financial challenges, and other issues as they arise
•    Work hand in hand with Quality Management Team to prepare vendor performance reviews, and resolve non-conformance's
•    Negotiate contracts and review bid proposals within budgetary limitations and scope of authority to ensure that statutory bid requirements are met
•    Perform analysis of purchased materials and services and make recommendations regarding volume agreements for procurement of common stock and services
•    Maintain procurement records such as items or services purchased, cost, delivery, product quality or performance, and inventories
•    Prepare reports as requested, to enable financial analysis of all facets of business operations
•    Provide feedback on drop dates for completion of projects in support of team members
•    Exhibit familiarity with standard purchasing concepts, practices and procedures
•    Rely on experience and sound judgment to accomplish goals
•    Perform a variety of complicated tasks
•    Maintain a creative, flexible attitude and be able to make decisions with a moderate to high degree of latitude
•    Other duties as assigned

 

Additional Responsibilities
•    Plan multi-level electronic assembly production requirements using ERP system; SAP strongly preferred
•    Create, maintain, and close manufacturing production orders, as needed
•    Perform materials related transactions, as needed
•    Act as a resource, answering questions and assisting with solving production order/ERP problems raised by other departments
•    Review, approve/reject, and implement engineering change orders, deviations, etc.
•    Communicate and track critical shortages that will delay shipments
•    Understand and follow ESD guidelines for handling electronic product
•    Willingness to work overtime, as needed

 

Qualifications
•    Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience
•    Minimum 5 years of experience with electronic commodities/MRO/Service Contracts
•    Minimum 7 year computer experience or training with MS Office software
•    Strong understanding of ERP systems, manufacturing processes and inner-workings
•    Excellent organization and communication skills
•    Ability to work independently
•    Quality conscious and must have attention to detail
•    Proven problem-solving skills
•    SAP experience
•    Experience working with a fast-paced, cross-functional global team
