Position Summary:

Designs electrical systems and equipment in support of PDT’s thermal and fluid controls product line. Advances company capabilities by development of new products and improving the value of current products

 

Essential Duties

  • Responsible for motor control system analysis, modeling, design, and development of motor control systems for electrically operated pumping systems.
  • Performs testing and validation of motor control system requirements.
  • Provides technical leadership for projects incorporating complex electromechanical systems, including analog and digital controls and sensor systems.
  • Effectively integrates all aspects of a design using multi-disciplinary engineering principles.
  • Evaluates motor control characteristics, diagnoses, and corrects deficiencies in designs and prototypes.
  • Understand and create component and subsystem specifications.
  • Design and author test procedures and write high quality reports in PDT standard format.
  • Build, test, and troubleshoot electrical and electro-mechanical systems on PDT test benches.
  • Read and understand customer requirements and specifications related to ac and dc motor controls.
  • Develop electrical systems related to ac and dc motor control that satisfy customer requirements.
  • Troubleshoots electrical motor control systems, data acquisition systems, PLC’s power electronics and other electronics laboratory equipment.
  • Perform circuit reliability analysis

 

What We Look For

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering with 5 to 10 years’ engineering experience in aerospace
  • Or Master’s degree in electrical engineering with 3 to 5 years’ experience in aerospace.
  • Knowledge of electrical manufacturing processes, including assembly and testing.
  • Demonstrated teamwork skills applied to technical troubleshooting and problem solving.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English.

 

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

 

  • Theoretical knowledge and understanding of the principles of operation of ac and dc motors required.
  • Experience with design and analysis of motor control systems and associated power electronics is required.
  • Familiarity reviewing and interpreting customer specifications for compliance.
  • Familiarity drafting and releasing specifications for suppliers, and comfortable managing sub tier suppliers against specifications and requirements.
  • Familiarity with PCBA manufacturing process
  • Experience with Circuit simulation in LT Spice
  • Experience with board and trace layout in Altium
  • Experience organizing and writing test procedures to DO-160, MIL-STD-461, and MIL-STD-202
  • Knowledge of electric machine types commonly used in electric pumping systems such as brushless dc (BLDC) and ac induction.
  • General competency in all core fields (electronics, electromagnetics, computer hardware and software) is required.
  • Experience with Solidworks CAD drawing package is preferred.
  • Background in aerospace engineering and thermal control systems is preferred.
  • Able to effectively communicate, written and orally, with employees and technical professionals/consultants.
  • Adept in the use of computers, software applications and other technology tools used for the purpose of information gathering, designing, product testing, computation, communication, and product documentation.   
  • Operate standard office equipment, including a PC; operate standard software applications. 
  • Good organization and documentation abilities
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and with others.  
  • Due to ITAR Restrictions an export license may be required.

Compensation

Salary Minimum:  $90,000
Salary Maximum:  $120,000
