Job Description: 

AMETEK Hughes-Treitler (HT) is the industry leader in high-performance, plate-fin, Aluminum/Inconel heat exchangers for Military and Commercial Engine, Rotary, Airframe, and similar applications. HT specializes in custom build-to-specification applications where thermal performance, weight, structural and reliability are key considerations. HT provides Engine Surface Coolers, Fuel-Cooled Oil Coolers, Air-Cooled Oil Coolers, high temperature Buffer/Pre-Coolers, and bundled Heat Exchanger/Fan/Blower/Duct systems for the most challenging applications/requirements.

 

Position Summary:

Review and monitors the inspection of parts and to ensure adherence to established quality standards. Lead daily production meetings on schedules and metrics. Training and mentoring of personnel to achieve Safety, Quality, and delivery of products through various product areas. General day to day supervisory skills. Technical ability/knowledge of CMM, welding processes, heat treat process, and non-destructive testing process a plus.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Supervisor team of inspectors and create cross-functioning team.
  • Coordinate all activities between work areas to support customer (both internal and external) on time delivery (OTD) with quality product out of the department.
  • Establish Quality Control plans to standardize inspection methods.
  • Conformance & adherence to Quality Assurance processes established by HT QMS.
  • Lead team to achieve/maintain zero Quality escapes to the (internal/external) customer.
  • Actively work with Engineering and Operations on reducing internal rejections.
  • Promote team development through encouragement, and by building mutual trust, respect, and cooperation among team members
  • Provide leadership and daily direction to inspectors, update all area communication boards with daily/weekly data.
  • When required, create action plans for process improvement and implement those action plans to support company metrics or process corrective actions.
  • Strictly enforce company safety policies.
  • Oversee the purchase and use of any inspection tools, or supplies used in various areas
  • Assist Quality Manager with MRB as needed

 

Required Skills and Abilities:

  • Must be organized and proficient at people management.
  • Excellent people and communication skills are required (both oral and written).
  • Must be willing to manage non-first shift (alternate/off-shift) and/or weekend operations hours.
  • Strong machining/mechanical inspection skills required.
  • Strong interpersonal skills requiring the ability to resolve conflicting interests and obtain cooperation.
  • Read and interpret aerospace engineering drawings using GD&T.
  • Experience working with AS9100 quality system and/or FAA regulations is desired.
  • Computer literacy in a MRP system (Oracle a plus), Microsoft Office.
  • Proficient in common quality methodologies, including: CAPA, APQP, MSA, PPAP, SPC.

 

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree required, Technical or Production-Operations Management related field of study preferred.
  • Minimum of five years of manufacturing related experience.
  • Any education or experience in lean manufacturing a plus.
  • Due to ITAR Restrictions an export license may be required.
