Position Summary
The Industry Manager leads AMETEK Land’s business and growth strategy for the power and minerals markets and for emerging business opportunities as economies around the world continue to decarbonize their operations. The Industry Manager maintains and grows a pipeline of projects in their target markets, gathering voice of the customer to identify new trends and ensure the product roadmap is appropriate to serve future market needs. They are the evangelist for the products into the target markets and collaborate closely with the marketing group to generate campaigns and collateral which differentiate AMETEK Land products from the competition.

The Industry Manager will be a strategic member of the commercial organization and will support Sales in refining their go to market strategy to support long term growth objectives. They work closely with product management to ensure AMETEK Land are positioned as thought leaders in their target markets.

 

Key responsibilities and accountabilities

  • Creates, maintains and communicates Strategic plan for target markets.
  • Supports the sales team in developing and closing commercial opportunities.
  • Undertake customer visits on a global basis, provide sales presentations for AMETEK LAND solutions into the target markets and works with the Engineered Solutions team to technically qualify the customer’s needs.
  • Gathers market requirements for current and future products by conducting market research to establish trends and needs in the marketplace and work closely with the product management team to translate that information into marketing specifications.
  • Works with marketing to develop the material required to support the development of the target markets including; application notes, case studies, presentations.
  • Attends relevant industry conferences and promote AMETEK LAND technology and solutions via both formal presentations, exhibitions and informal networking opportunities.
  • Supports the sales management teams to identify and on-board suitable local channel partners to further drive the success of AMETEK LAND solutions into the metals market.
  • Collates and provide accurate, on time reporting to senior management to include forecasts by country, region, customer and key project. 
  • Develops content and processes to transfer product and application knowledge both inside and outside the organization.
  • Provides feedback to marketing, technology and product management on shifting trends in the target markets and identify new product development opportunities where appropriate.
  • Management of nominated key accounts and/or systems integrators as needed.
  • Global travel as required.

 

Experience, Skills and Qualifications

  • Degree qualified or equivalent, ideally in a Technical scientific discipline (eg. Engineering, physics, chemistry)
  • Customer orientated with the ability to overcome challenges whilst managing multiple deadlines and projects.
  • Capable of translating technical product information into strong customer value propositions.
  • Strong team player who can work successfully in a multicultural organization.
  • Experience of working in or selling instrumentation and systems to major players in heavy industry. Eg Power, Cement, Mining, Metals or equivalent
  • Experience with measurement instrumentation, ideally optical or infrared technology.
  • Demonstrable relevant commercial experience.
  • Excellent business and commercial acumen, negotiation skills and ability to close deals.
  • Working knowledge and application of marketing tools and approaches.
  • Strong PC and presentation skills (both oral and written).
  • Financial skills to assess benefits of new offerings to customers and AMETEK Land.
  • Be able to work independently and provide regular status progress updates.
  • Fluent in English language (a second language would be beneficial)
