Position Summary

 

Manage all sales and contract aspects of Superior Tube services for the defense business through the life cycle of the contract. Direct the daily execution of contract requirements to assure that cost, schedule, and performance goals are met, and risks are proactively managed. Provide interface, communications, and coordination with internal and external stakeholders on matters pertaining to existing contracts and bid and proposal activities. Participate as a team member on bid and proposal activities to grow existing contracts and capture new business.

 

The Program Manager reports to the Business Segment Manager, Tube and will drive the execution and delivery of a high profile, fast paced, development programs to further enable the growing precision tube market.

 

Responsibilities:

 

 

  • Act as the primary customer interface on all matters involving contract execution. Lead and coordinate execution of strategically significant program development, enabling customer success by delivering critical components on-time and on budget. 
  • Serve as single point of accountability for internal and external stakeholders on matters pertaining to contracts and proposal activities
  • Develop and implement corrective action plans when deviations from budgets and/or schedules are evident. Seek senior management assistance to resolve problems as they arise.
  • Promote project management standards and best practices across programs to include communications, quality, and risk assessment strategies
  • Prepare for and participate in contract/subcontract negotiations.
  • Ensure that the requirements of the request for proposal are met in the preparation and documentation of bids and proposals.
  • Understand cash flow management principles
  • Coordinate periodic meetings, provide required status reports, and ensure customer issues are addressed/resolved in a timely fashion and within contract parameters. Coordinate with Contracts on issues pertaining to contract requirements, changes, and interpretations. Coordinate with other departments to resolve contractual problems with the customer.
  • Through exceptional customer relations, promote business development and identify growth and new sales opportunities within customer programs.
  • Interface with company senior management pertaining to assigned programs to report program performance.
  • Represent management at program reviews, meetings, etc.
  • Develop/improve program management processes and procedures within customer programs
  • Lead customer milestone reporting.
  • Oversee and maintain realistic project schedule to assist team with meeting targets.
  • Collaborate with New Product Development team and shop floor personnel during required activities and product launch periods.
  • Participate in and/or lead cross functional team meetings.
  • Formally identify, assess, monitor, and mitigate risk throughout the program life cycle. Obtain management approval prior to making decisions that will cause deterioration of established program, cost, and schedule objectives.

 

 

 

Education Required:                 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related field. Master’s degree preferred.

 

Experience/skills required:

 

  • Minimum of 7 years of program management experience in a manufacturing environment. This includes delivering complex program deliverables on time, under budget and meeting technical objectives.
  • Business development experience on defense proposals 
  • Excellent customer interface skills and experience working with defense customers
  • Successful track record managing complex defense programs.
  • Experience throughout the program lifecycle from development through sustainment.
  • Have a portfolio of programs in which financial objectives (profit, cash flow, revenue, bookings) were achieved
  • Self-motivated ability to deliver in a fast-paced environment with emphasis on follow-through responsibilities based on task priorities
  • Results-orientation with a drive and passion to make stretch commitments and demonstrated ability to deliver outstanding work
  • Excellent leadership and management skills, particularly “influence management” and “conflict resolution”
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills; including presentation skills
  • Excellent judgement, decision-making, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills
  • A career with a succession of increased responsibility based on the achievement of defined results.
  • Proven ability to work productively with individuals at all levels inside and outside the organization.
  • Works independently with minimum supervision.

 

Experience/skills preferred:

  • Program Management Certificate
