About the Position. The Account Representative will manage day-to-day activities and execution of our customer connections; follow established contract review procedures and provide accurate quoting, order entry, status, shipments, returns, credits; proactively engage with customers to head off issues; and show customer appreciation for their business.


The Account Representative serves as the liaison between the customer, plant, quality, supply chain, and finance to pull together all necessary resources to support the customer and resolve issues; ensures complete and accurate backlog and sales forecasting through timely and precise order entry; issue quotations to new and existing customers by working across functional boundaries to develop lead time, pricing, minimum order quantities, and terms; drives customer satisfaction; and presents data and makes recommendations as to course of action to business leaders to resolve complex customer issues.


This role is to be considered a key role for the onboarding of high-quality talent for further development. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to be promoted to increasing levels of responsibility within the Specialty Metal Products (SMP) Business Unit. As such, the candidate should know at the outset that if successful, the opportunity exists to move to other SMP functional areas such as Supply Chain, Procurement, Operations Supervision, Finance or a larger Commercial role.




Position Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Engineering, or other related field of study. Relevant experience can be substituted for degree.
  • Minimum two years of customer service experience within a technical field. Knowledge of metals or industries that Ametek serves as plus.
  • Clear, proactive communicator.
  • Willingness to cross functional boundaries within the organization.
  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills.
  • Customer centric with proven record of relationship management.
  • Ability to work in tactical administrative team environment from focused problem solving to customer care and support throughout any given day – this includes admin activities all the way to problems solving/decision making (both ends of the spectrum).
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities and meet strict deadlines.
  • Ability to make recommendations with limited information and changing situations.
  • Self-starter, high level of initiative. Intensely detail focused, but able to see the larger picture as well.
  • Ability to manage and organize large volumes of information from multiple sources.
  • Data driven.
  • Willing to use independent judgement as appropriate.
  • Open to diverse points of view.
  • Seeking a dynamic and challenging work environment.
  • Competency with Excel
  • Time management skills with a focus on communicating with customers in a timely manner.
