Your Impact:


The Software Engineering Manager is responsible for executing product designs to meet company objectives, partner with management and develop systems and controls to ensure compliance with quality standards.  This position is responsible for managing the following areas: Software Development, Web Development and Mobile App Development.  The position also requires direct interaction with the Production Validation and Testing teams.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Directly responsible for managing multiple engineering teams and some remote individual contributors.
  • Responsible for managing external contract resources both onshore and offshore.
  • Work closely with other engineering groups and product line management to develop product solutions that meet customer expectations for functionality, cost, performance, and time to market.
  • Work with field and operations personnel, and occasionally customers, to resolve field issues quickly.
  • Lead a “continuous improvement” mechanism within engineering, where lessons learned during development drive improvements in the processes and methodologies used in the engineering department, as well as elsewhere in the company.
  • Interaction on a daily or weekly basis with other functional groups, such as manufacturing, delivery services, customer support, sales, and marketing.
  • Provide guidance and mentoring to other engineers, and “lead by example” with respect to quality and schedule awareness.
  • Implementing latest methodologies and technologies where applicable while maintaining best practice engineering methods.
  • Work with team of engineers to set goals, plan projects, build timelines, stay within budget, and support organizational objectives by developing strategies.
  • Understand and demonstrate the use of agile methodologies and DevOps best practices across engineering.
  • Look for ways to automate our testing processes, both unit and system integration testing to improve our time to market.
  • Identify and recommend software tools and components that maximize the Engineering team’s effectiveness.



  • A bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent is required, MA preferred
  • At least 7 years’ experience with at least the last 3 of these in a managing role.
  • At least 3 years’ experience with project management software is required.
  • Experience managing outsourced engineering resources, as well as remote workers, is required.
  • Experience in IoT, Big Data and up-to-date knowledge of the industry.
  • Experience with cellular network architecture and protocols, including MAP and SMPP.
  • Detailed knowledge of Microsoft technologies with Azure cloud services, client side web (ASP .NET MVC, Webforms, JavaScript) and mobile programming (Xamarin) along with DevOps and Server side (Web services, C#, Web API) programming.
  • Experience reviewing and/or writing patents is highly desirable.
  • Highly beneficial to have experience working with Atlassian tools (Jira/Confluence), Data Analysis tools (SQL, Hadoop), Continuous Integration tools (Octopus, Kubernetes) and Source safe tools (TFS, VSTS).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.
