Business Manager – Solartron Metrology

 

Mission:

 

AMETEK are looking for a strong Business Manager to lead the Solartron Metrology business, based in Bognor Regis on the south coast of the UK.  This role will work very closely with the DVP, Business Unit Manager and other members of the Senior Management Team.  You will be responsible for overall profit and loss for this Business, will provide tactical and strategic guidance and be responsible for developing and implementing the Business Plan.  This is a great opportunity for a leader to run a P&L and to take the business to the next level.

1.    You are expected to:

  • Deliver predictable and sustainable sales and profit growth.
  • Share responsibility and accountability for the success and direction of the company.
  • Take responsibility for the financial performance of the business, including sales, profit, working capital, on time delivery.

 

2.    As Business Manager, Solartron Metrology you will:

  • Be responsible for delivering profitable sales growth, through individual action, through your team, and through distribution channels.
  • Work closely with the Solartron Metrology Engineering Director, developing and taking ownership of the NPD plan.
  • Work closely with the Operations Director of Solartron Metrology to improve factory performance in Bognor Regis and Serbia, by executing lean initiatives and having a focus on OTD whilst continually improving Quality
  • Develop talent and people plans to ensure we have the right people in the right place and a robust succession plan in operation.

Deliver double digit annual sales and profit growth (year on year) and establish the basis and foundation for continuous growth.

 

2

Deliver a new market development strategy within 6 months, reducing the reliance of the Business on the Automotive sector.  Substantial progress to be made within 12 months.

Implement Product Management discipline into the Business.

In coordination and cooperation with the Engineering Director, develop and prioritize our short and long-term product development programs.

Reduce manufacturing lead times by 10% without increasing working capital as % sales.  Develop a plan within 6 months, implement inside 12 months

5

Lead a key talent review across the business. Ensure all key roles are filled by “A” players, agreed with the DVP, Business Unit Manager

Provide monthly sales forecast accurate to within 10% in five out of six months and 12-month sales forecast accurate to within 10%

Experience and Education

  • STEM degree is a must, MBA preferred
  • 5-10 years’ experience in leading teams both locally and remotely.
  • Proven ability to successfully handle multiple projects and meet critical deadlines
  • Strong analytical thinking, problem solving skills and communications skills (both written and oral) with attention to detail
  • Must be a team player with excellent interpersonal skills and a commitment to relationship-building, both internally and externally
  • From an operations perspective, exposure to best practices, e.g., lean manufacturing, continuous improvement, JIT etc. is necessary in achieving operational excellence.
  • Strong customer relations and commercial negotiation skills
  • Firm understanding of Lean Manufacturing
  • Ability to develop organizational effectiveness with a strong bias towards talent development
  • International business development experience, especially Asia. 
  • Must demonstrate strong product knowledge, understand key differentiators
  • Experienced traveler, comfortable with >20% of time overseas travel
