Job Description: 

The Staff Accountant will partner with team members across our Finance and Operational departments to support the business goals and objectives. This role will be based physically at our Binghamton manufacturing site, however, for the right talent profile, we would consider this role being based at our Wichita, KS site.  This position will support multiple business locations making the ability to effectively work across multiple sites critical to one’s success in this role. Occasional travel to the other business locations may be required.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Assist in month end closing.  Prepare and analyze monthly journal entries, account reconciliations and reports as assigned.
  • Prepare payroll journal entries, related accruals, and reconciliations
  • Process new credit card requests, tax exempt certificates, credit applications and other similar documentation
  • Reconcile intercompany accounts and complete intercompany confirmations
  • Assist in preparation of monthly standard reporting package
  • Post daily application of cash receipts and assist with collection efforts as needed
  • Assist Accounts Payable department with vendor inquiries and invoice vouchering
  • Reconcile cash, A/P and A/R monthly
  • Audit T & E expense reports
  • Assist with quarterly internal SOX requirements and annual business audits
  • Work closely and effectively with multiple levels of the organization.
  • Handle workload in a timely and accurate manner
  • Special projects assigned by Accounting Manager and Controller
  • Other duties as assigned

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or related discipline required or a combination of education and experience
  • 1 - 3 years’ experience with a background/knowledge of Manufacturing Finance being preferred.
  • Manage challenging expectations effectively and resolve conflicts efficiently
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions
  • Ability to adapt to constantly changing environments & priorities
  • Excellent communication skills; verbal and written as well as excellent phone etiquette
  • Able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously to completion with sound business judgment
  • Must be able to meet strict deadlines
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products especially Excel
  • ERP system experience with SAP/Oracle preferred
  • Extremely strong organizational skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Well organized and detail oriented with the ability to meet business unit  goals in a fast paced, highly competitive environment with a focus on customer service
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise initiative and independent judgment
  • Self-starter who is also a strong team player with a positive attitude
  • Ability to maintain composure when facing change or working under pressure
  • Occasional travel between the PDS and Abaco sites may be required (<10%)
