Position Summary:
The Senior Tax Analyst will play a key role with State Tax Compliance, Audit Defense for Federal, State and Local Jurisdictions. In addition, this individual may also be responsible for various aspects of tax provision, planning and research for AMETEK, Inc. and Subsidiaries. Ideally, the individual will have proven experience with OneSource and Alteryx software programs.
Position Responsibilities include (but are not limited to) the following:
- Lead the state tax compliance process which includes the filing of state income and franchise tax returns, compilation of apportionment data, computation and filing of state estimated payments and extensions and the associated accounting entries.
- Responds and resolves tax issues and notices with state and/or local taxing authorities.
- Supports state tax audit defense by assisting in responding to state information and document requests and drafting responses to state tax auditors and Departments of Revenue.
- Maintain excellent working relationships with Local Finance Controllers and Managers, Global Service Center, outside tax consultants, Corporate Tax and Finance Departments
- Stay up-to-date on trending federal and state tax law and ensure newly enacted tax laws are incorporated into tax provisions in the proper period.
- Familiarity with Hyperion (HFM) is a plus
- Assist and support team members with ongoing tax department projects and tasks, as applicable
- Maintain nexus study up-to-date by legal entity and by state
- Develop and maintain knowledge of state income tax laws and current developments
- Work and collaborate in a cross-functional team environment
- Assist with identifying process improvements and streamlining existing procedures
Requirements:
- BS/BA (Masters in Taxation preferred)
- 6 - 10 Years Corporate Tax Experience or 4 – 8 Years Public Accounting Tax Experience
- Certified Public Accountant (preferred)
