Embedded Firmware Engineer

Job Summary

  1. Interpret and understand complex engineering requirements and translate them into functional embedded systems engineering code.
  2. Deliver outstanding safety critical software solutions to meet UL regulations and safety requirements.
  3. Communicate effectively with team members and customers worldwide.
  4. Develop software documentation and maintain version control of developed firmware.
  5. Work collaboratively with Lead software engineers and managers to implement and improve firmware reusability.
  6. Develop both application and test software to ensure software quality and functionality in our diverse range of products.
  7. Participate in design reviews for both hardware and software, by understanding product schematics, layouts and microcontroller architecture.

 

Required Skills

  1. Degreed Embedded Firmware and Hardware engineer with a focus on firmware
  2. Brushless (BLDC) motor Drive experience
  3. Familiarity with Microchip dsPIC, STM32 and Arm Cortex M0/M4 processor architectures
  4. Communication busses like J1939 CAN Bus, RS232/UARTS, I2C, SPI, Modbus
  5. Experience with advanced peripherals like ADC, PWM, GPIO, Timers, capture compare, etc.
  6. Test Equipment Knowledge, (Oscilloscopes, Multimeters, logic analyzers)
  7. Experience with real time embedded systems programming
  8. PI and PID control loops design
  9. Using GIT tools for version control and collaboration
  10. Strong communication and presentation skills
  11. Passionate about building outstanding firmware and hardware for motor controls.
  12. Proficient with computers and knowledge of MS Office Suite.
  13. Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment.
  14. Experience working successfully with multiple departments such as R&D, marketing, manufacturing, and suppliers.
  15. Strong focus on innovation, and delivery of outstanding firmware solutions.

 

Desired Skills

  • Field Oriented Control Design and Sensorless motor algorithms.
  • UL 60703 and Class B Safety Library experience.
  • MISRA, A-SIL, IEC 26262 Machine Directive experience
  • Knowledge of Control System Theory
  • MATLAB, Simulink, and Embedded coder experience developing motor drives.
  • RTOS (Real Time Operating Systems like FreeRTOS, ThredX, Azure RTOS, Zephyr, etc.)
  • Any of the following programming languages Python, C#, C++
  • Knowledge of Motor drives (BLDC, FOC, Sensored and Sensorless)
  • Unit test and software testing experience

 

Experience Level

      3 to 5 years’ experience with Embedded C and C++ programming

Educational Qualification

Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering Degree from an Accredited university
