Job Description: 

A Designer is responsible for producing 3D models and 2D engineering drawings, incorporating changes on existing products and routing Engineering Change Orders. In addition, requires use of company software to interpret customer product requirements and feed changes to design team, ensure changes are incorporated, and/or implement changes independently.

 

What you will do:

  • Perform both routine and complex/difficult design assignments requiring the operation and application of computer aided design software.
  • Transform product requirements submitted by sales into drawings to be used for the manufacture of company products.
  • Prepare CAD drawings within PDM environment in accordance with company templates and standards.
  • Analyze problems that may arise during the manufacturing process and recommend solutions.
  • Develop creative design capabilities, such as die castings and plastic parts components to the extent that they meet customer, supplier and assembly requirements. 
  • Maintain a working knowledge of basic engineering, design and other technical disciplines related to the creation of Company products.
  • Maintain a liaison with Engineers and Sales colleagues in the designing or development of Company products.
  • Check and/or approve all work on projects as delegated including engineering change notices (ECN's) and revisions, basic layouts, arrangements and designs; accuracy of computations, selection of material and equipment, in compliance with Company standards.
  • Must be knowledgeable about and familiar with mechanical or electronic components, materials, tolerancing, machining and assembly procedures. Keeps abreast of trends and improvements in mechanical or electronic fields of engineering and manufacturing through appropriate publications and training.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

We are looking for:

  • Associate degree in a technical or related field required; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum 3 years' experience with a manufacturing company required.
  • 3D software experience required; SolidWorks 2D/3D experience highly preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products.
  • Demonstrated understanding of GD&T standards.
  • Demonstrated experience with light assembly and mechanical hand tools.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and collaboration skills required.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English highly preferred in order to interface with global counterparts.
