Job Title: North America Business Unit Controller

This position has flexibility to be based in Baldwin Park, CA, Tulsa, OK or Wichita,KS.
Reporting to the Division Vice President of Finance, the North America Business Unit Controller is responsible for all accounting activities and domestic financial operations. The Controller is a strategic business partner to the business unit leadership team by accurately measuring and forecasting operating performance related to KPIs and making recommendations for improvements. The position has 2 direct reports and an organization of 13 total.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain effective internal control of all business unit operations and locations to ensure continued protection of its assets and an accurate reporting of its financial position.
- Provide management with monthly, quarterly and annual reviews of the organization’s financial status and progress in its various programs and activities in accordance with the Corporations reporting formats and requirements.
- Partner with sales and operations management to manage working capital by balancing inventory, accountants payable, and accounts receivable.
- Forecast Business Unit business activity and financial position in the areas of income, expenses, and earnings based on past, present, and expected operations in accordance with the Corporation’s reporting formats and requirements.
- As strategic business partner to business leaders, identify positive and negative trends, with sufficient depth of underlying detail to have confidence in conclusions and suggested next steps.
- Direct preparation of budgets by reviewing budget proposals; prepare necessary supporting documentation and justification
- Arrange audits of business unit financials, as well as internal and external audit requirements and US Sarbanes Oxley-404 (SOX) testing and compliance.
- Perform due diligence on potential acquisition targets. Develops models, business forecasts and trend analysis to support these opportunities, as needed.
- Drive IT strategy as defined by Division Director of IT, and management of information technology
- Represent the company externally, as necessary, to government agencies and auditors.
- Recruit, train, supervise, and develop department staff and conduct annual performance evaluation. Upgrade talent where and when necessary.
Requirements for Consideration:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; MBA and/or CPA a plus
- Strong technical background in GAAP, SEC Reporting and Sarbanes-Oxley Act compliance as well as Manufacturing Finance.
- Experience working in an industrial manufacturing organization
- Demonstrated ability to provide strategic business guidance related to both the commercial and operational sides of the business
- Travel: Approximately 30%
