Job Summary:
Our Accounting Manager is responsible for oversight and management of the monthly financial close, daily operational accounting and local sales/use tax returns. Thorough knowledge of general accounting including thorough skills knowledge plus the application of general account theory. You will also supervise the activities of Staff Accountants. Reporting to the Assistant Controller, our Accounting Manager uses a hands on and highly detail oriented approach in their execution of the following responsibilities and tasks.
Primary/Essential Responsibilities:
- Applies principles of finance and cost accounting to various accounting duties related to the Business Unit's financial and operational planning and reporting as directed by the Assistant Controller and Business Unit Controller.
- Assist with the maintenance of the manufacturing plant’s cost accounting systems and financial processes and internal controls.
- Assist with the financial coordination, administration, and analysis of manufacturing operations, including intercompany pricing and transactions. This involves analyzing sales and cost of sales, labor reporting, product costing, and monthly material usage variances and inventory adjustments.
- Participate in the overall planning, coordination, and participation of the physical inventories as well as the analysis of the results. Perform the monthly accounting and reconciling of the financial to perpetual inventory.
- Duties include the ability to develop system driven reports as well as the ability to analyze and interpret the resulting data.
- Coordination and analysis of direct and indirect labor reporting within the business unit.
- Prepare recurring monthly journal entries related to inventory, labor reporting, cost of sales and other various entries.
- Assist in analysis of product costs, overhead absorption, abnormal fixed cost expenditures, etc.
- Preparation and/or thorough review of monthly account reconciliations, including banking, accounts receivable, accounts payable, prepaids, accruals, and other standard balance sheet reconciliations.
- Daily interface with manufacturing personnel and production planners. Assist planning and scheduling to improve inventory controls and internal programs.
- Participate in the preparation of cost price data packages for potential project proposals.
- Perform other related duties and specified projects as required.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance from four-year college or university
- At least five years related experience and/or training in all aspects of accounting and well versed in issues encountered by Controllers.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interests, commission proportions, and percentages.
- Must be proficient in MS Excel and Word, ERP/MRP system.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions and adhere to strict deadlines.
